PETE and BETH…
… came to see me and sat as far apart from each other as they could possibly sit and still be on my couches.
It didn’t take a doctorate to feel the extreme tensions and emotions in the room.
Pete’s affair had just been discovered by Beth a few days before! She had already consulted with an attorney about divorce and had started the process.
They had three kids, ages 6, 9, and 12, and both Pete and Beth had come from broken homes. They knew that no one wins in a divorce, but the kids are the biggest losers.
So, they decided to get counseling help to see if they could salvage their marriage.

…entered my office with eyes bloodshot from oceans of tears shed and a look of fear so profound it almost scared me.
Calling on all my years of training, my God-given compassion, and my belief in the inherent value of every human, I helped her feel safe enough to open up a little about what she was dealing with in her life.
What began as a trickle quickly turned into a torrent as she recounted decades of failed relationships with her abusers and her desperation to matter to someone. Through her sobs, she lamented about her horrible abuse as a child from her first and worst abuser… her father!

We are a Christian ministry that helps people restore healthy minds, hearts, spirits, and relationships.
Our motto is: “Helping People and People Helpers with Grace and Truth.”
We specialize in helping people heal from trauma, infidelity, sexual compulsions, and the unique challenges of being people helpers (ministers, non-profit leaders, and Christian counselors).
We believe that EVERY human being is made in the image of God and is worthy of honor and respect because of that truth.
You don’t have to be a Christian to get help from us. We are unashamedly Christian, and our relationship with God influences what we do and how we do it.
We will also respect you and help you to the best of our abilities. If we are not the best fit for your issue, we’ll endeavor to help you find an alternative.
We are not miracle workers but work for the One who is.

After a few initial appointments with Dr. John, they decided to pursue a two-day marriage. They both started the first day feeling about as far apart as possible. Over the two days, the miracle they both desperately wanted began to take shape! By the end of day two, they left the office holding each other closely, with a deeper connection than they ever had, huge weights lifted off their shoulders, and renewed hope that they would not pass on divorce to another generation.

Throughout the next nine months, she felt lighter and more hopeful with each session. As we used Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help her process and heal from all her trauma, she cried less and less and began to smile more and more.
On that last appointment before she “graduated” from counseling, I sat across from a different woman. She had begun a relationship with a wonderful man who treated her like the incredibly valuable Image Bearer of God she had come to see herself as. About a year later, I got a letter from her as well as a wedding invitation. She thanked me again for all the help and told me God had transformed her life after she sat in my office that first time.
